Buddha's serene, happy demeanor doesn't only come from hours of meditation. He'd be stiff and sore without his massage therapist to put the Om back in his spirit.
If you're like me, you are easily overwhelmed by too many choices. So, if you need to get out your calming bottle, I completely understand! This page is here to try and help you make that decision easier!
Hot Stones
Heat causes your muscles to relax and signals your brain to increase blood flow to that area. For patients who are more sensitive, hot stone is perfect because it’s a relaxing way to ease those muscles and allow the massage therapist to reach those deeper muscles. A 2014 study published in the journal, "Sleep Science" found that postmenopausal women who were dealing with difficult insomnia slept better after receiving a massage, expressing it is a promising solution for such applications.
IASTM/Gua Sha
This modality introduces controlled microtrauma to affected soft tissue structure causes the stimulation of local inflammatory response. Microtrauma initiates reabsorption of inappropriate fibrosis or excessive scar tissue and facilitates a cascade of healing activities resulting in remodeling of affected soft tissue structures. Adhesions within the soft tissue which may have developed as a result of surgery, immobilization, repeated strain or other mechanisms, are "broken down" allowing full functional restoration to occur. Kinesiology Taping
Kinesiology tape improves blood and lymphatic circulation and reduces inflammation and excess chemical buildup in the tissue. Proper taping improves the muscle's ability to contract even when it's weakened, reduces a feeling of pain and fatigue, and protects the muscle from cramping, over-extension and over-contraction. It activates the endogenous analgesic system. "Endogenous" refers to something that is self-originating, and calling something "analgesic" means that it can relieve pain in a conscious person. So, this requirement means that the tape must facilitate the body's own healing mechanisms, a central focus in chiropractic medicine. Lastly, it helps correct joint problems. The goal is improving range of motion and adjusting misalignments that result from tightened muscles.
Percussion therapy
One of the most important benefits of massage guns is the ability to promote recovery after injury or intense activity by improving blood flow to the area. Precisely targeting small and large muscles with deep percussive pressure provides other recovery-related benefits, including: decreasing muscle pain and tension, reducing lactic acid buildup that causes muscle soreness, improving flexibility, improving lymphatic flow, which helps to rid your body of toxins and support your immune system, improving body awareness by promoting mind-muscle connections that may improve athletic performance
Cupping
Cupping decompresses soft tissues using vacuum suction, unlike other forms of massage that compresses soft tissues. During cupping, the cup gently sucks to your skin and lifts underlying soft tissue into the cup. The sensation that is experienced is a pulling of the skin as the cup is moved in a rolling fashion. Redness or a feeling of warmth is usually experienced after the release of the cup due to increase blood flow to the area.
